Solomon Yeigagha
Following the murder of Master Sylvester Oromoni Jnr by suspected cultists at the Dowen Boarding School in Lagos, a leading Niger Delta Sociocultural group operating under the aegis of Delta Ijaw Comrade Community (DICC) have stated that while authorities in Lagos state is on the matter, the group asserted that it will not accept any miscarriage of justice.
The group maintained that all it wants for killers of the young promising Sylvester Jnr was for the law to take its course.
The highly revered Niger Delta group made their position known to newsmen in Warri yesterday via a press statement signed by Amb. Comr. Binebai Yerin Princewill, president general of the Delta Ijaw Comrade Community (DICC) on behalf of the group, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide.
Binebai had on behalf of the Delta Ijaw Comrade Community noted that the group will not accept anything less than making perpetrators of the act to be given an equal punishment by the law, stressing that this must not be another case that will be swept under the carpet.
However, the statement had commended steps taken by the Lagos state Government in ensuring that the school is closed down indefinitely, adding that it is now up to the law enforcement agencies to ensure that those behind the death of Master Sylvester Oromoni Jnr are made to face the law squarely.
While Master Sylvester Oromoni Jnr’s death is painful to us, as comrades, we will collaborate with the family and all those who think well of a better society in ensuring that justice prevail on this matter.
“We just cannot relax as a group, Master Sylvester Oromoni Jnr could have grown to become a great leader in Nigeria, Delta State and even in the world, we must rise up against this.
“The law must take its course, no one has the right and monopoly to deliberately kill someone, our fear is that this case should not be like other matters that after series of cries the matter will just wane away without culprits facing the law, a lot has happened in this country in the past and even now, this is a huge task on the Nigerian security agencies, Lagos state Government and the judiciary, we are all watching keenly.”
Meanwhile, DICC had commended all Nigerians that have added their voice on the matter calling for justice, stressing that the tempo has to be sustained and increased.
